Welcome Home

How much things have changed since I last wrote here!! My house is finished inside, (except for a couple of small projects), and now my thoughts are looking towards updating the outside... eventually. For now? For now, I spend precious time sculpting new little ones. While I did make a miniature almost 2 years ago now, I'm primarily focused on sculpting life-sized pieces to reproduce into vinyl, silicone, and resin. With several projects on the go, I'm always busy these days.

I thought I had lost my passion for sculpting and struggled for years with it. After finally getting help from the Brain Injury Clinic here, (for a severe injury at 6 years old, then an additional bad concussion in 2019), I have realized that my passion was never lost. I was. I was lost in how to properly function at my absolute best. I was lost in feeling useless, but not wanting to be. I was lost because I knew I wasn't functioning like everyone else around me.  However, I was lucky to be teamed up with an amazing specialist that has helped me understand how I need to function WITH a brain injury. It has taken a good 2-3 years to fully understand how I function because of this injury and to learn how to best cope with it.

So here I sit, as I am finishing up my care through the Brain Injury Clinic, and not have I only successfully gotten back to work, but I have found so much more. I have found my happiness, confidence, joy, and peace. My sculpting no longer feels like work. I have found my way to things that I enjoy doing. Some things I have always enjoyed and lost the ability, or others I fell out of touch with, and others are completely new to me. I have focused HARD on getting my health and my body back in shape. I run 3K a day, and don't struggle to get my breathe and my heart doesn't pound to the point of fainting anymore. I'm in the arena at least once a week hockey skating, playing stick and puck and training my body. I ditched my sugar addiction, cut the carbs, carry a water bottle around with me all day and night, and got back to making healthy homemade meals. I even got interested in the sourdough journey and made my own starter a year ago. I love giving my older parents a healthier bread option and gifting loaves to friends and neighbours. It really has become a new passion. I'm back to my hiking along with my nature photography. Two of my oldest passions. Last? I quit spending so much time on social media! Social media can be SO negative and draining. I'm taking my time to do my own things, stay in touch as much as I can, spend time with family and friends, immersing myself in my clay and my portrait sculpting, (YES! I finally taught myself how to do portrait sculpting... something I always stayed away from), and I am LOVING IT! I could go on and on about all of the ways in which my life has turned around for the better, but it is just too great of a list to make.

I live a very blessed life and I am so very thankful for it.

It's like someone has finally said, "Welcome home, Nat. Welcome home", and I finally know in my heart, this is where I am supposed to be.

New Kit "Bailey"!

It has been awhile... okay... a LONG while, since I last posted here.  I actually completely forgot about my blog until I updated my webpage last week and saw the link to it.  I was ill for quite some time, and during that time, I was one of those people who got bit by the forums and Facebook bug and neglected everything else.  Alas, I am finally getting back into the groove of things and looking forward to improving my skills.

I have just brought out a new kit named, "Bailey".  This kit is a Special Limited Edition, (only 500 kits, as opposed to my regular editions, which are larger).  Bailey was unveiled at the International Doll Show in Asheville, North Carolina.  Due to the small edition size, I do not have any dealers for this kit. The kit is available on my website only, at www.nataliescholl.com/Bailey.

I am currently working on another couple of projects and hope to be able to share some news and sneak peek photos soon!  For now, please enjoy a few photos of one of the Bailey prototypes, done by Evon Nather.

So Much for the New Year's Resolution!

I just reread my last post and feel so ashamed at the fact that I wanted to post more on here for my New Year's Resolution and here we are entering the fourth week of July for my first post since!!  I guess some things never change!

My house is still under construction somewhat, (15 months and counting now), but the projects left are all the small, fine detailed ones mainly.  On the up side, it is inhabitable and on the down side... I tend to work slow on fine details.

This brings me onto the subject of sculpting!  :)  I am still working on a custom sculpt.  I am very close to finishing now and am anxious to put the final result together and do a final photo shoot.  Once she goes off to her "mommy", I will get hard at work on my next kit as well as a mini ooak that I will likely list for sale on Ebay.  If not there, I will list it directly on my website.  I hope to be able to post again soon with pictures of the latest little one here.

For now I am off to work on the little munchkin!

Goodnight!

Wow!

I cannot believe it's been 7 months since my last post here!  Wow!  I guess one of my New Year's resolutions for my business will be to make a conscious effort not to forget about my blog!  :)

The world of the internet surely can take you away.  I signed up for a Facebook Fan Page and between updating that, answering emails that I get through three different addresses and my facebook mail, updating webpages, keeping up with orders for kits... you can see how time escapes me.

Ontop of all of this, I have been renovating my first home for the last 7 months.  Things with that are finally starting to come to a close... just in time to host some Christmas dinners.  I'm looking forward to enjoying time in a house without wearing construction boots!

What has been happening with Art Dolls by Natalie Scholl these last months?  I introduced my second kit, "Ryan", a limited edition of 1000 kits.  Pre-orders began on July 19th and within 50 hours, I had completely sold out and my dealers sold out shortly thereafter.  I was definitely not prepared for this kind of response!  This production took far longer than I had ever hoped for or imagined.  The kits only arriving to me this past week.  I, (along with my mom), have been busy inspecting each and every piece before sorting, packing and shipping.  I have decided that having this many kits come in at this time of the year is extremely stressful.... and if I can avoid it in the future, I will do so!!  I have so many things to do!!  I'm just focusing on the day when the kits are all shipped out and I can relax.

I have also been working on a custom order and have begun sculpting a head for my next kit.  With things the way they are at the moment, both of these projects are moving very slowly.  I hope things will be able to pick up again in the new year.

For now, I'll leave you with pictures of little Ryan...

We also have a new little one in the family.  Please meet baby Charlotte...

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.  Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukka, Happy Kwanzaa... or whatever you may celebrate!

Jayden Kits

I have been away from blogging for awhile due to many things happening all at once! I am in the process of moving and renovations at the moment and am processing lots of kit orders for "Jayden". I will not be having any ooaks available until I get my studio set up in my new place, as I am working on some custom orders at the moment as well.

The prototypes for "Jayden" arrived last week and turned out absolutely wonderful! They are now at the reborners' and I am anxiously awaiting pictures of them! For now, I will post some pictures of the blank kits for you to see. If you are still wanting to order one of these kits, I would suggest ordering soon as there are only about 90 kits left now and seem to be selling fast since the prototypes came out.
For more ordering information, please go to: http://www.nataliescholl.com/Jayden.html
Here are some pictures of the blank, unpainted kit....

Tiny Teddy #3

It has been a LONG time since I've been on my blog! Things here have been so busy that I have forgotten to come on and update. I will be back on soon to update, but for now I will share a listing that I have just placed on Ebay...

Jayden

I am happy to announce my first kit will be named, "Jayden". I have heard back from the manufacturing company with costs, so I am now free to move on with the orders. I am working on finishing my order/payment page and will hopefully have it up in the next couple of days so that orders can be made directly from there. Production will take approximately 3 months from the time that the original is received at the factory.

I will update again when the page is up and ready. Thank you for your patience!

Nearly Finished!

I am waiting for the last piece for my kit baby to bake. I am still contemplating doing a belly plate for this baby. I think it might be cute to have one, but I'm not sure if that many people would like one to make it worthwhile producing one. I have had so much fun creating this larger baby. I love making the mini ones, but every now and then it is fun to do something different. Hopefully I will have some pictures of the whole baby to share soon!

To Come...

A glimpse of a newborn size baby to be produced as a reborn kit.

Merry Christmas!

I just wanted to stop in and wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

I finished my custom sculpts and have been recovering from another virus of some sort, so have been away from the computer recently. I am anxious to get to work on a new little one to offer for sale in the beginning of the new year!

I do hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday season!

Finished Sculpting!

I have finally finished sculpting the limbs for these custom sculpts I'm working on. Now I just need to finish sanding and painting. Not too much longer now, and then I can get back to doing my own little ones. :)

Hope to be sharing some photos soon...

Two New Little Ones

What can I say? I am still working on customs and have neglected my blog yet again! I was knocked off my feet for a little over a week from some sort of illness, but luckily I am back up and at it again now, and feeling much better.

I just finished limbs for another little one last night. They still need to be sanded and painted, but they are finally sculpted! I also finished another two babies a little while ago and since I had them here at the same time, I took a few photos of them together. I'll share one of them with you here... a sound little sleeper and a cranky little fellow. It looks a bit like a fist fight is about to errupt in this picture though! :)

A Quick Update

Hello!!

I have had a couple of people email me in the last few days asking where I have disappeared to! I apologize for not writing in my blog as of late. I have been working many long hours on some custom sculpts trying to get caught up here. I have made lots of progress with them, but still have a ways to go yet. I do hope to have a new baby available in the coming weeks for sale. I also have plans to finally get at working on a kit doll. So, for all the reborners out there that have been asking when one will be available... with any luck, this winter!

For those of you on my mailing list... do not worry, you are still on my list! You have NOT missed any dolls! I have not had any available for awhile. :) I do appreciate you checking in and your continued interest! It is always good to hear from everyone.

Take care,
Natalie

Summer

Nearing the end of summer already and I've neglected my blog again! I have been busy travelling and working on more custom orders. I flew out west to visit my sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew. We went camping in the rockies together... what beautiful scenery! It was nice to see them and spend time together. I also travelled up north to go camping and canoeing for a few days. The weather didn't cooperate too much with that trip unfortunately, but it was still nice to get away and enjoy the solitude up there. I am posting a couple of pictures from my trips to share.

Miss Mia

I have been busy travelling this past week, and am finally back and settled for a couple of weeks before I am off again. I am trying to enjoy the rest of the warm weather before the cold reappears here.

My little custom girl is named and now off to her mommy. Here she is ... little miss Mia.

7.23.2009

A Peek at Little Miss

I have finally finished this little miss, (still no name for now), and she is now at my mom's waiting to get her outfits made. She is a tiny little one compared to the last ones I have made... just barely 8 inches long. I took a few pictures of her right after I painted her. She did not have a body yet and I just placed her pieces in a dress, (which is far too large for her), for these pictures. I thought I would share her like this anyways. :)

Long Lost

I can't believe so much time has gone by since my last posting! So much has been going on here as of late that has kept me either away from sculpting, or going slowly. I spent such a long time working on the limbs for this little girl... trying to improve on my arms and legs as I went. I sculpted and resculpted both the arms and legs several times. It wasn't a total waste of time, as I learned from each one that I decided to take apart again. :) I was lucky enough to have a couple of friends send me pictures from all different angles of legs and arms from the same baby to help me in my quest to improve. These pictures helped immensely and I look forward to the future when I can improve even more!

In the next couple of days I will be sanding and painting this little girl and then she will be ready to be outfitted. I shall share her with you all as soon as I can!

After an extremely hot week near the beginning of the summer, it has cooled right off here. It is unusually cool for our summers here, but it does make it easier to sculpt... so I won't complain about the coolness from that point of view! :) I have been enjoying the flowers and green grass that this summer has to offer as opposed to the burnt grass and desolate flowerbeds that are usually common this time of year from the heat. Here are a few pictures I have taken in the last little while...

I will write again soon!
